Teal Green with White Streaks "Fracture" Bowl on Teal Base

Two circles are cut, one from a  stunning transparent teal with streaks of white glass which will become the upper tier , and a second with a circumference smaller by about an inch a complementary green transparent.
The patterned circle is placed between several layers of clean paper and the center is located and marked on the paper to target.
A forceful strike is made with a hammer at the center mark!!   This is a solid blow but not too hard that the point of impact disintegrates into powder.
The paper is cautiously opened taking care to keep this now shattered glass as intact as possible and it is slid into position on top of the bottom circle.
The splintered circle is reconstructed repositioning all the fragments, both large and small, expanding out to the perimeter leaving a visible border of color from the bottom layer around the perimeter symmetrically exposing the bottom color between each piece.
Glue is applied to secure all these fragments in place and embellishments added as necessary to fill in defects in areas in which the glass is shattered too severely to cover the base.
Ready for the kiln this is taken to a temperature which will fuse all the pieces but retain a slight texture with smooth rounded edges.
The bowl is completed after being placed in a ceramic mold and fired again in the kiln to 1250°, a temperature sufficient for the combination of heat and gravity to transform the piece to the shape of the mold.
This stunning bowl would enhance any table setting or as an artistic display element.
