Strips on Edge Bowl & Platter

This platter is made with individually cut narrow strips of spring green, white, clear and black alternately placed cut side up and tightly supported to maintain their shape when fired to 1425°.
The resulting large striped piece with the use of a tile saw is sliced at varying widths and these segments arranged to reconfigure the design creating directional pattern and interest and transparency if positioned so light can shine through it.
